Meeting Description:

The ICSRC is a premier international conference covering interdisciplinary dialogues on semiosis and focuses on the conceptual understandings of sign actions and processes which are manifested in society through various forms of representation. The Semiosis Research Center is a research institute sponsored by the National Research Foundation of Korea and has strived to suggest a new humanities framework appropriate for studying language use, human interactions, social networks, and cultural development.

The 5th ICSRC will be held on May 8, 2020 at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Seoul, Korea focusing on the theme “Semiosis and the Humanities”. This conference will bring together a wide range of interrelated studies, linking disciplines such as media and communication, literature, the visual and performing arts, translation, linguistics, psychology, and anthropology, among others. Focusing on semiosis in its multiple dimensions (such as representation, codification, entextualization, and interpretation), this conference will provide a dialogic forum to discuss cognitive and social phenomena using intra/inter-textual and multimodal frameworks.
