Meeting Description:
Today, linguistics opens up to other recent disciplines such as neurolinguistics, language didactics, computing linguistics, etc. In fact, the situation in the 21st century seems more confused than it was a long time ago when the discipline was in a phase of progressive development while trying to forge its links with other fields of study. However, for the sake of being tuned in to the “complexity” of the matter, there seems to be an internal dialogue between the different disciplines mentioned above. Interconnection and mutual understanding of each discipline and approach’ stakes can, in effect, only be beneficial. This has led other modern linguists to seek the adventure and call on specialists in other fields in order to better understand some phenomena related to language. The proliferation of research laboratories bringing together multidisciplinary studies and the increase in the number of research journals and periodicals in several fields have fostered this openness.
This current situation leads us to question the present status of linguistics. How to achieve a homogeneity of linguistic research beyond the fragmentation of its disciplines? How to provide a more legitimate status to the language sciences?
The aim of the colloquium is to highlight the contribution of other areas of knowledge to linguistics via the sharing of specialists’ experiences in the field by presenting case studies and theoretical frameworks on the subject.
