https://ideopol.org/call-for-submissions/ This volume addresses theory and practice of place-name policies carried out in socialist and post-socialist states during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The volume aims to analyse geographical (re-)naming as a political and ideological practice, engaged in the construction of historical narratives and symbolic space, which has also shaped collective memories and identities in post-communist and post-soviet countries. The issue will focus on state and local toponymic strategies and habits, renaming patterns, as well as hegemonic and alternative ideologies of place-naming. We invite articles from scholars working in a variety of fields, namely sociolinguistics, anthropological linguistics and onomastics.
