Focus: This summer the Middle Eastern Languages Summer Institute (MELSI) is offering online Arabic, Persian and Tati courses.

Description:
The Department of Linguistics at Stony Brook University is hosting the second Middle Eastern Languages Summer Institute (MELSI) to be held during Summer Session 1 (May 26 – July 3, 2020).

Students can choose to study from among the following languages spoken in the Middle East. All the classes are going to be offered online.

- Arabic (ARB 101- 6 credits- M/Tu/Th 1:30-3:10); fulfills the language requirement for undergraduate studies

- Persian (PER 101- 6 credits- M/Tu/Th 1:30-3:10); fulfills the language requirement for undergraduate studies

- Tati (LAN 111. 02- 3 credits- M/Tu/W/Th 10:50-12:30)

The intensive language courses are offered in a hybrid (synchronous + asynchronous online) format and include Arabic and Persian, which are offered 3 days a week in the afternoon of M/Tu/Th 1:30-3:10; and The Tati course that is offered 4 days a week in the mornings (Monday through Thursday 10:50-12:30). There will be occasional cultural activities between 12:30-1:30, when all MELSI students are invited to further practice their language skills and to interact with other students in the Institute.

Registration Instructions:
Students can register for 3.0 credits for the Tati course (LAN111.02), and for 6.0 credits for Persian and Arabic courses (PER101 and ARB 101).
