Linguistic Field(s): Computational Linguistics
Meeting Description:
NIST and IARPA are pleased to announce a new Automatic Speech Recognition Challenge and Workshop, OpenASR, open to international participation. This new challenge was created out of the IARPA MATERIAL Program, which encompasses more NLP tasks including CLIR (cross-language information retrieval), machine translation, domain classification, and cross-language summarization. To kickstart work in this new challenge, NIST will distribute ASR training sets for a variety of lower resourced languages to be evaluated under both constrained and unconstrained conditions. The final evaluation will be scheduled for November. Please save the date for registration in mid July.

The first OpenASR Challenge associated with MATERIAL, OpenASR20, is scheduled to open for registration in July 2020, with an evaluation period in November 2020. It will feature ASR evaluation opportunities for ten low-resource languages.
It will be implemented as a track of NIST’s OpenSAT (Open Speech Analytic Technologies) evaluation series, using the OpenSAT web server for registration, data access, submission, and scoring purposes.
Please check our website soon for an evaluation plan, schedule, and registration instructions.
