The Department of Graduate Studies at Navajo Technical University invites applications for a full-time benefits-eligible Assistant Professor of Navajo Linguistics to begin August 6, 2020, conditional upon final financial approval. The initial appointment will run for two semester and is potentially renewable. The Assistant Professor in Navajo Linguistics will offer graduate level courses in the Dine (Navajo) Language. May also offer courses in the undergraduate courses also. All language courses at Navajo Technical University will be conducted in hybrid learning environment during Fall 2020, relocation to Crownpoint, NM may be required. Details will need to be worked out once selection is made with the supervisor.
The successful applicant will have experience in teaching Navajo Linguistics and Theory in an academic setting, will have native or near-native proficiency in Dine Language, and will have excellent command of written English. Preferred qualifications include training in language pedagogy and a PhD in Linguistics with emphasis in Athabaskan, Apachean or Dine Languages, teaching linguistics or a related field.
