- Ensure that product features are well-grounded in learning science by providing high-level guidance about how to apply research findings to the Duolingo product
- Provide hands-on support with any tasks that would benefit from a learning-expert perspective, such as learning-focused user research or data analysis to evaluate the learning effectiveness of specific product features or understand user learning outcomes
- Be responsible for regular communication with subject matter experts / course creators across teams in order to leverage their insights for product development

- Ph.D. in cognitive science, cognitive psychology, learning sciences, linguistics, second language acquisition, or a related field

- Strong skills in experimental design and data analysis
- Passion for language learning and some knowledge of at least one language other than English
- Outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- A desire to make the world a better place through technology

Exceptional candidates will have:
