We are pleased to announce the launch of a new book series with Routledge, titled Routledge Research on New Waves in Pragmatics, edited by István Kecskés (State University of New York, Albany, USA) and Monika Kirner-Ludwig (University of Innsbruck, Austria).
This book series is an initiative of the American Pragmatics Association (AMPRA) and aims at producing volumes that present the latest trends and lines of research in the field of pragmatics by early-career scholars who have completed their thesis no more than five years prior to the submission of their proposal.
The proposal can be based on their thesis or any other research topic that fits into the scope of the series. Our endeavor is to give a publication opportunity to excellent emerging scholars from all over the world. The book series will publish both monographs and edited volumes that reflect new developments in the field. The editorial board members and reviewers coming from all over the world will ensure an appropriate and consistent quality control of contributions. We would like to emphasize that the series is affiliated with AMPRA but is not in any way restricted to AMPRA members, and conference participants. This is an international book series that aims to support early-career scholars and the development of the field.
There are three important principles that our book series will rely on: First, the editors and the editorial board will make every effort to select works that reflect the diversity of the field that includes but is not restricted to linguistic pragmatics, cognitive pragmatics, philosophical pragmatics, intercultural pragmatics, sociocultural pragmatics, corpus pragmatics, interlanguage pragmatics, interactional pragmatics and internet pragmatics. Second, pragmatics is amongst the fastest growing fields of linguistics with researchers in all parts of the world. The series should reflect this type of diversity as well. The editors and the board will make an effort to involve scholars from all over the world, if their work meets the quality requirements of the series. Third, special attention will be given to new ways of thinking in the field – even if they have not been fully worked out yet. Proposals of this kind to the book series will be supported by the editorial board members so to emphasize and restructure the presented contents and lines of argument in an appropriate manner.
We are honored to have been able to win the following internationally renowned scholars to support our series by serving on its Editorial Board:
Patricia Amaral, Indiana University Bloomington, USA
Anne Bezuidenhout, University of South Carolina, USA
Betty Birner, Northern Illinois University, USA
Xiren Chen, Nanjing University, China
Anita Fetzer, Augsburg, Germany
Rachel Giora, Tel Aviv University, Israel
