The Department of English Language and Literature at Åbo Akademi University invites applications for a position as a postdoctoral researcher in English linguistics for a fixed-term period of three years from 1 January 2021 or as agreed, the COVID-19 situation permitting.
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in one of the following fields:
- Linguistic study of online discourse, adopting a discourse-pragmatic approach
- Historical and/or diachronic study of discourse organization
- Sociolinguistic approaches to media, online interaction and identity
The appointee’s primary task will be to pursue their own research and to produce publications, conference papers, and other outputs arising from it. They can also be required to participate in teaching, supervision and examination of M.A. theses on topics related to their field of expertise, up to a maximum of 20 per cent of the total work time.
The appointee is expected to participate in conferences and engage in international research co-operation. They will be eligible for travel grants for these purposes. Applicants are required to include a mobility plan for at least six months to pursue research at a university or research institute abroad as part of their research plan.
The applicant will hold a PhD degree in English language/linguistics. In general, no more than four years should have elapsed since the award of the degree.
