The 3rd ILLA Focus Conference on Forensic Linguistics encourages linguists and legal practitioners to submit abstract proposals on all topics of forensic linguistics like authorship identification; speaker identification; trademarks conflicts; plagiarism detection; language crimes; cybercrimes; deception and lie detection; police interrogation, among others.
Furthermore, we would also welcome paper submissions that relate to the assisting role language experts can play in a criminal investigation; the linguist as an expert witness in the courts of justice; communication and interaction between lawyers and language experts, courtroom interaction; admissibility criteria, ethics, the mediatisation of criminal cases, among others.
Call for Papers:
The call for papers is open from 1 October 2020 and will be closed on 20 January 2021. Abstract submission procedures are web-based (email attachments will not be accepted). Please note that abstracts should deal with research that is clearly in progress (if not yet completed). Please make sure that your abstract includes the following information:
1 Purpose statement
2 Research problem
3 State of the art
4 Hypotheses or research questions
5 Description of the methods, instruments and tools
6 Summary of the main conclusions or statement about the relevance and potential impact of the piece of research
7 References (up to five).
Guidelines for abstract submission:
- Title (14pt Times New Roman, bold type)
- Text (12pt Times New Roman)
- Length: No more nor less than 500 words
- Keywords: up to five keywords separated by a semicolon
- Language: English
- Please follow APA style
Note: Failure to follow the guidelines may be a reason for abstract rejection.
Abstract submission: from 1 October to 20 January 2021
Deadline for abstract submission: 20 January 2021
When the abstract is ready for submission, please click on the label for submission, select one of the ten thematic areas, and follow the steps for abstract submission: 1 Metatext, 2 Title, 3 Anonymised abstract, and 4 Keywords).
Abstracts will go through a blind peer-review process. Authors should receive notification about the result of the blind peer-review process by 1 February.
