Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics

Meeting Description:

The German Linguistic Society's (DGfS) ''Teacher Training Initiative'' acts as a bridge- builder between different areas of linguistics and pedagogical application. At DGfS's Annual Meeting in 2021, the Teacher Training Initiative will focus on recent insights from cognitive approaches to language learning and teaching. In particular, we will discuss the scope of recent findings in the psychological and experimental language sciences as they potentially connect to the development of new instructional methods in language pedagogy. Our workshops will present the latest psychological findings and ideas on reading, writing, and multilingualism, making the journey from cognitive science to final use in a language classroom. Some workshops are tailored towards primary schools while others relate to secondary schools.
