E-mail this message to a friend A third edition of the above book has gone into print, which includes a more major change on pp. 78/79 in comparison to the 1st and 2nd editions. Readers of the earlier editions can "upgrade" their text by replacing an example with an audio-linked illustration, which suggests that even in very young speakers in Vienna -- contrary to what appear to be rather unreflected but widespread claims in the current (German linguistics) literature -- Standard Austrian German is not "Germanizing" but is here to stay, which is one of the core messages of the book.
