The Program in Linguistics at Princeton University invites applications for an American Sign Language Lecturer position. The Lecturer will teach introductory ASL courses in both the fall and spring semesters, beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, and may also lead precepts (discussion sections) for other ASL-related courses. Teaching responsibilities will include in person teaching, grading student work, and holding on campus office hours. Position duty time will be contingent on course enrollments.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced ASL instructor who is native or near-native in ASL, has an extensive knowledge of Deaf culture, and has demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching.

This position is expected to start on September 1, 2021, and is expected to be renewable, annually, contingent on sufficient course enrollments and satisfactory performance.

Interested candidates must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, and contact information for at least three references at the application email provided below. The cover letter should include a link to a video of the applicant signing in ASL; this can be a signed version of the cover letter itself, or some other sample of similar length.

For fullest consideration, please apply by May 21, 2021. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue on a rolling basis until any final decisions are made.

Successful candidates must carry a minimum of an advanced degree.
