Call for Papers:

Psycholinguistics and the Neuroscience of Language

Introducing Psycholinguistics as a discipline concerned with the study of how language is processed and represented in the brain seems, at first glance, sufficient to characterize our proposal for this call for papers. The name of the discipline, which comes from the traditional combination of Psychology and Linguistics, appears to be broader today than it once was. Psycholinguistics has become a highly productive area and, along with the Neuroscience of Language, has rendered a decisive contribution to the description and understanding of how human language works. Studies are currently inspired in multiple areas of knowledge and rely on different methodologies.

This thematic issue is thus dedicated – but not restricted – to papers on the manifold interfaces of Psycholinguistics and the Neuroscience of Language. Original or review articles and shorter articles of exploratory studies with results that focus on experimental research are also welcome. Proposals may address the application of different approaches and methods (online and offline) to the study of (neuro)psychological processes underlying language performance at word, sentence, and text levels in the modalities of comprehension and production.

In addition to the wide range of linguistic phenomena in the domains of language acquisition, comprehension and production, as broadly understood, more specific topics are eligible, including, for example, memory and language systems, bilingualism, developmental and acquired disorders, and sign language.

Original contributions in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish are accepted.
