The primary goal of this symposium is to promote both theoretical and applied research in pragmatics in Central and South America, and to bring together scholars who are interested in different subfields of pragmatics. The four main topical strands of the symposium are: (i) Pragmatic theories; (ii) Experimental pragmatics; (iii) Intercultural, cross-cultural and social pragmatics; (iv) Applied pragmatics. We encourage researchers especially from Central and South America to submit their abstracts. Scholars from other parts of the world are also welcome to submit, if their research is focused on social groups and /or uses data collected in Latin America.
