De Gruyter Mouton ( is pleased to announce the launch of the new book series ‘Foundations in Language and Law’, edited by Janet Giltrow (The University of British Columbia) and Dieter Stein (Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf).

The series aims beyond the traditional surveys of scholarship in law and language. Volumes in the series will provide foundational materials – theoretical, methodological, critical, practical – to advance study of important topics in the field. And even as each volume engages conceptually with current scholarship in the area, it presents original research which breaks new ground and indicates future directions for scholarship in law and language.

For details, see

Volume 1 in the series was recently published: ‘Legal Meanings: The Making and Use of Meaning in Legal Reasoning’, edited by Janet Giltrow, Frances Olsen and Donato Mancini,

Forthcoming volumes include monographs and edited volumes by Laurence Horn, Victoria Guillén-Nieto, and Magdalena Szczyrbak, among others.
