Meeting Description:

The Linguistic Society of Korea (LSK) is pleased to announce the 2021 LSK Winter Young Scholar Symposium and Winter Conference to be held online through Zoom from December 9 to 11, 2021.

The digital revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic have created new avenues for language use and novel modalities of linguistic and social interactions. The development of language technology generates new streams of data, but also offers new methods to gather and analyze data and test theories.

In this critical period of transition, the 2021 LSK Winter Young Scholar Symposium and Winter Conference provide a forum for researchers in diverse fields of language study to share their findings and interests in the theoretical and empirical study of languages and also to search for new directions in theory and application.

It will feature a total of 33 presentations related to these issues, including six invited talks by the following distinguished scholars: Stephen Th. Gries (University of California, Santa Barbara & JLU Giessen), Martin Hilpert (Université de Neuchâtel), Rui P. Chaves (University at Buffalo), Stefan Engelberg (Leibniz-Institut für Deutsche Sprache, Mannheim), Adele E. Goldberg (Princeton University) and Manfred Krifka (Leibniz-Zentrum Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft & Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin).
