Travel grant procedure:

Le Comité International Permanent des Linguistes (CIPL) / the Permanent International Committee of Linguists [1] announces 5 annual travel grants of € 500 each (approx. US$ 550) for participation in a linguistics conference.

Who is eligible:

Advanced students in linguistics without a PhD are eligible to receive a once-only grant of €500 to help fund their participation in a linguistics conference.


The student must present a paper at the conference. Grants for participation in a conference in the home country of the applicant are excluded.

The application should also include an abstract of the paper to be presented; a CV; proof that the paper has been accepted for presentation; proof that the conference will take place as scheduled; and a letter of support by the student’s academic advisor.

Proof of participation:

After the conference, a brief report of the awardee’s participation, accompanied by a copy of a certificate of participation, must be presented to CIPL.


Applications should be sent to the Secretary-General of CIPL, Prof Dr Frieda Steurs, The call is open twice a year: from March 1 till May 15 and from October 1 till November 15. Only during these two periods, applications will be accepted.
