Description:

The newly established research group on Natural Language Processing at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Marburg (Germany) is seeking applications for a position as Doctoral Researcher in one of the research areas of the group, which include: Methods and Applications of Natural Language Processing, Perspectivism and Disagreement in NLP, AI for Social Good, Legal Tech and NLP Evaluation.

The position is offered for a period of 3 years. he position is fulltime with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).

Tasks:

- scientific services in research and teaching
- conduct independent research within the interest areas of the group
- design, develop, and evaluate NLP models and systems with experts from application domains
- help shaping the research agenda of the group
- publish results in top-tier academic conferences and journals

The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate.

Profile:

- MSc-degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics or a related field
- experience in Natural Language Processing and programming
- interest in real-world applications of Natural Language Processing
- ability to work independently as well as in interdisciplinary teams in an international environment
- excellent communication skills in English, the ability to communicate in German is beneficial
