Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Job Description: LENA Research Foundation in Boulder, Colorado is seeking a PhD in Developmental Psychology, Linguistics, Communication Sciences or related fields for the position of Language Research Director.

This position involves management of multiple internal research studies, data analysis, consulting with outside researchers, presenting study results at conferences and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. The position provides a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in a wide range of areas including autism, deafness, and early intervention with disadvantaged children. The Language Research Director is integral to our current and expanding national and international collaborations. In addition to scientific research, the Language Research Director will also be involved with multiple aspects of the development of LENA technology and services, working closely with foundation scientists and engineers and the scientific advisory board.

Located in the beautiful, physically active city of Boulder, Colorado, consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the US, the LENA Research Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to develop advanced technology and programs to accelerate language development for all children.

Salary for the position ranges from $80,000 to $110,000 depending on experience and publication history. Excellent benefit package.
