"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Job Description: Position Summary:
Linguists who are native speakers of Malaysian for an exciting and challenging opportunity to help develop world-class linguistic software. Using client-developed linguistic software to develop & validate a morphologically structured lexicon of several hundred thousand words, for input into a spell-checker tool. Maintaining & reviewing design documentation in English, using appropriate formatting and technical writing. Reporting and monitoring lexicon/spell-checker errors using proprietary online issue management system.

Project Information:
- Location: Remote, Global
- Hours: Work is on a flexible basis (preferably 20hrs per week)
- Length of assignment: Casual, 1 year

Qualifications/Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor degree in Linguistics
- Native speaker of Malaysian
- Very high proficiency in English
- Excellent technical skills
- Linguistic skills should include: grammar, syntax, morphology
- Familiarity with linguistic tools, and language technology applications
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master's degree in Linguistic or Computational Linguistics
- Familiarity with scripting languages
- Understanding of software development including testing
- Familiarity with the dialectal difference between standard Malay and the Brunei variant
