"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Job Description: The School of Linguistics and Language Studies at Carleton University has the following contract instructor positions available for Winter 2014:

Introduction to Linguistics I
Phonetics
Phonology II

The remuneration for each course is $6,483. The desired qualification is a PhD in Linguistics.

Carleton University’s School of Linguistics and Language Studies is a large unit offering a full spectrum of courses on the nature of language and its use, at the BA, MA and PhD levels. We also offer courses in Modern Languages, ESL, and Communication Courses for Disciplines and Professions. Detailed information on the School can be found at the department URL.
