Since 1917, Hispania has published original, unpublished manuscripts on language, linguistics, literature, literary criticism, film, culture, cultural studies, applied linguistics and pedagogy having to do with Spanish and Portuguese. It is a refereed research journal published four times per year. Some 10,000 copies of each volume are published. Hispania contains scholarly articles that are judged to be of interest to specialists in the discipline(s) as well as to the diverse readership of teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Approximately 275 original manuscripts are submitted annually with an acceptance rate of 12–15%. Hispania is available on JSTOR and Project MUSE.
