Description: Over the past 20 years, the phonological theory and studies on language variation have gained a new breath in Brazil, especially after the emergence of post-generative models (Lexical Phonology, Autossegmental and Metric Models, Optimality Theory...). Phonologists have also given more attention to speech data, thus, linguistic variability. The proposal for volume 28 of the journal Letras & Letras accepts papers that investigate phonological variation, the application of many different post-generative phonological models with data from several languages − including indigenous languages −, the acquisition of the phonological system and also researches addressing phonology and variation applied to language teaching, due to the relevance of these topics to Linguistics in general.
