Abstract: This article examines culture-specific differences in the ways representatives of American and Ukrainian societies, native speakers of their respective languages, use the address forms in face-to-face interactions. It discusses cultural models of the USA and Ukraine and investigates how they manifest themselves in the use of the forms of address by the interlocutors, the users of their respective cultures, within asymmetrical and symmetrical relations in different domains of social reality, such as family, workplace, education, army and service relationship, based on participant observation and survey.
