Title: Problemas na orixe da alternancia dos alófonos dos fonemas /b d g/

Institution: Universidade de Santiago de Compostela
Linguistic Field: Historical Linguistics
Subject Language: Galician
Abstract: In this work, I try to show that the spirantization of /b,d,g/ in Galician was produced by the lenition of oral voiced stops and not by the assimilation of any feature of the leftward segment; this lenition was produced in all the contexts where it was possible, but only there. An oral stop preceded by a pause or by a homorganic non continuant segment is a fortition context.
