Title: A Preliminary Study of Monophthongs Produced by Hearing-Impaired Children who Receive Auditory-Verbal Therapy in Early Years

Abstract: 研究背景與目的:研究顯示,聽障孩子在6個月大之前確診、配戴合適助聽輔具、與接受聽能訓練,相較於6個月大以後才確診並接受聽能訓練的聽障孩子,可發展出較佳的語言技能(Yoshinaga-Itano et al, 1998)。早期接受聽覺口語法療育可使聽障兒童的語言發展達到和聽常兒童相同的成長速率(Dornan et al, 2007; Geers, 2006; Rhoades, 2001),且可有效加速聽障兒童的口語發展(Hogan et al, 2008),亦即在6個月大以前確診、配戴合適助聽輔具、並及早接受聽覺口語法療育的聽障兒童,將有機會發展出和聽常兒童相當的口語表現。值此之故,本文初步針對1名早期確診並接受聽覺口語法療育之聽障女童的單韻母(ㄧ、ㄨ、ㄩ、ㄚ、ㄛ、ㄜ、ㄝ)發音表現和聽常女童進行比對。鑒於聽覺口語法療育效益多採用標準化評量工具加以評估,鮮少就語言本身進行分析比較,故本研究初步採用實驗語音分析法,希冀提供另一種評估聽覺口語法療育效益之選擇。/L//L/方法:本研究之研究對象為1名6歲4個月的聽障女童,其母語為台灣華語,1個月大時雙耳聽力損失程度皆確診為極重度、4個月大起配戴助聽器、5個月大開始接受聽覺口語法療育迄今,並無伴隨其他障礙。為了解該名女童是否已發展出適齡的發音表現,研究者收集了該名女童和11名通過簡易純音聽力篩檢(通過門檻為平均純音聽力閾值25分貝)的6歲聽常女童之單韻母語料(ㄧ、ㄨ、ㄩ、ㄚ、ㄛ、ㄜ、ㄝ),進行語音對比分析。語料收集的方式,係在安靜環境中,請研究對象透過筆記型電腦和外接式方向性麥克風,覆誦研究者所發單韻母12次,並由研究者經由語音分析軟體PRAAT(Boersma & Weenink, 2009)錄製。語音分析的方式,為截取各單韻母樣本中10個穩定聲學樣本,並測量其第一共振峰(F1)和第二共振峰(F2)頻率之中點數據,繪製成母音空間圖以進行單韻母發音位置的比較。總計收集聽常樣本數770個、聽障樣本數70個,共計840個樣本。/L//L/結果:研究結果顯示,本研究聽障個案(如圖1)與11名聽常童(如圖2)的整體單韻母母音空間形狀皆為倒三角形,且代表舌位高低的F1及代表舌位前後的F2之範圍(F1:200~1500Hz;F2:500~3000Hz)和聽常童所表現之範圍(F1:200~1600Hz;F2:500~4000Hz)重疊。進一步比較個別單韻母的發音位置分佈圖(如圖3),可觀察到聽障個案ㄧ、ㄨ、ㄜ、ㄝ、ㄩ、ㄛ的發音位置皆和11名聽常童發音位置重疊,而聽障個案的ㄚ舌位高低位置皆和11名聽常童發音位置重疊,惟ㄚ舌位前後位置僅與少數聽常童一樣都偏後。總結來說,聽障個案已發展出和同齡聽常童相當的單韻母發音表現,惟在ㄚ的發音表現上和同齡聽常童不盡相同。/L//L/結論和建議:研究結果支持前述學者的研究發現,即早期確診、配戴合適助聽輔具、並接受聽覺口語法療育的聽障兒童,確有機會發展出和聽常兒童相當的口語表現。惟本研究僅探討1名個案和1種發音樣本,故在推論上有其限制。建議未來研究可增添研究對象樣本數和發音樣本類別(如:聲母、聲調等),進而擴大發音語料樣本數。/L//L/Keywords: auditory-verbal therapy, hearing impairment, hearing loss, early intervention, hearing-impaired children, auditory-verbal approach, auditory-verbal practice
