Subject Language: German
Abstract: The following article deals with a description and analysis of the prepositional and postpositional systems in German and Korean under a contrastive perspective. Whereas the use of prepositions, as far as language typology is concerned, is mainly associated with VO-languages like German, postpositions are predominantly found in OV-languages like Korean or Japanese. The postpositional particles are closely studied and classified (local, temporal).
In a further step the use of German prepositions by Korean learners of German is closely studied, giving the reader an impression of the learners’ range of preposition application.
