Title: Software Package: Lextools
Submitter: Richard Sproat
Description: Lextools is a package of tools for creating weighted finite-state transducers (WFST) from high-level linguistic descriptions. These descriptions include: strings, regular
expressions, and lists of these; context-free and context-dependent rewrite rules; and various more specialized tools (e.g. a specialized tool for building grammars of the mapping between digit strings and the number-names for those strings). A version of lextools was used, for instance, to build text analyzers for the Bell Labs multilingual tts system (http://www.bell-labs.com/project/tts/).

Lextools binaries are available free for non-commercial use at: http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/lextools/ Supported platforms are: linux (i686), sgi (mips2) and sun4.

Lextools is built on top of, and requires, the AT&T WFST toolkit (version 3.6), available free for non-commercial use from: http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/fsm/
