Description:

The Centre for Translation Studies is offering a bursary to a suitably qualifiedstudent who presents a convincing proposal for research into some aspect ofmultimedia translation. The bursary covers registration fees at the UK/EU rateand a stipend of £8,000 per annum. The successful candidate will be expected tocontribute to the EU-funded eCoLoMedia project, which is creating trainingmaterials for multimedia translation. Initial funding is for a two-year period(leading to a research Masters), but an appointee who progresses well will beconsidered for three-year funding leading to a PhD.

You are expected to have: a strong academic or professional background intranslation, preferably multimedia translation, and native or near-nativecompetence in English. You will have good passive skills in two of French,German and Spanish. You will have some experience of using software forsubtitling and/or localization and/or translation memory. Preference will begiven to candidates with teaching experience and good editing skills in English.
