The Faculty of Modern Languages of Heidelberg University is filling thefollowing posts at the earliest opportunity:
W3-Professorship in English Philology: LinguisticsW3-Professorship in English Philology: Linguistics
Duties include teaching and examination in the B.A., M.A. and Lehramtdegree courses offered by the English Department, research with a focus onsynchronic linguistics (succession Marianne Hundt) or diachroniclinguistics (succession Gabriele Stein), administration, and attractingfunding for research. The successful candidates are also expected to show awillingness to participate in or initiate joint research projects withother modern language departments or faculties.
Prerequisite for the selection by the appointment committee are teachingexperience at university level and a distinguished record of scholarshipand research, including a Ph.D. and substantial post-doctoral publicationsin the field of English Linguistics.
This is a full professorship carrying a salary payable at the W3 rate (seewww.lbv.bwl.de/service/gehaltstabellen/beamte/besoldungstabelleab082004.pdf ).
The post carries tenure. The university is striving to increase theproportion of women in teaching and research and therefore expresslyencourages qualified female candidates to send in an application.Candidates with a severe disability will be given preference over equallyqualified able-bodied applicants.
