PositionThe University of North Texas invites applications for the faculty position(tenure system) in linguistics with a specialization in Native AmericanIndian linguistics, Department of Linguistics and Technical Communication,beginning fall 2010. We invite applicants at all academic ranks.

Job DescriptionAs a tenure-system member of the faculty, candidates will be expected todevelop a record of scholarly research necessary to obtain tenure.Candidates will teach upper-level undergraduate courses and some graduatecourses. Teaching load and assignment will depend on qualifications andcircumstances.

QualificationsApplicants must have earned a Ph.D. in linguistics. ABD candidates will notbe considered. Qualified applicants must demonstrate a mature researchagenda that demonstrates their dedication to the study and documentation ofone of more Native American languages and culture. Qualified applicantsmust demonstrate a successful track record in securing external grantfunding. Teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate linguisticscourses is preferred.
