New at Brill as of 2009 Indo-Iranian Journal, founded in 1957, focuses on theancient and medieval languages and cultures of South Asia and of pre-islamicIran. It publishes articles on Indo-Iranian languages (linguistics andliteratures), such as Sanskrit, Avestan, Middle Iranian and Middle & NewIndo-Aryan. It publishes specialized research on ancient Iranian religion andthe Indian religions, such as the Veda, Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism(including Tibetan). The journal welcomes epigraphical studies as well asgeneral contributions to the understanding of the (pre-modern) history andculture of South Asia. Illustrations are accepted. A substantial part ofIndo-Iranian Journal is reserved for reviews of new research. Twice a year itcontains a detailed bibliography of all publications received. The Journalpredominantly publishes articles in English and occasionaly in French and German.
