Description:
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Iowa issearching for a visiting assistant or visiting associate professor inHispanic linguistics for the academic year 2010-2011. Applicants shouldhave primary research and teaching interests in either phonology or secondlanguage acquisition. Appointment as a visiting assistant professorrequires the Ph.D. by August 2010; appointment as a visiting associateprofessor requires a previous appointment at the rank of associateprofessor. The successful candidate must show evidence of an activeresearch program and experience in teaching, and must be able to contributeto general offerings in the area of Hispanic linguistics, as well asadvanced undergraduate courses and/or graduate courses in the areas ofspecialization. Undergraduate courses are taught primarily in Spanish. Theteaching load for the visiting position is three courses each semester.
