The Faculty of Science of the University of Basel, Switzerland, invitesoutstanding scientists to apply for an Assistant Professorship(Tenure-Track) in Computational Intelligence in the Department ofMathematics and Computer Science, beginning in Spring 2011 or earlier.
The University of Basel is promoting the growing area of computationalscience. The faculty of science started in 2002 to offer a full Bachelorand Master program in Computer Science with an application-oriented profile.
Job Specifications:The person to be appointed will have an excellent track record in the fieldof Computational Intelligence, a field that is defined at the intersectionof Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Algorithmics, ComputationalScience and Applied Mathematics. Possible research areas include, but arenot limited to, text and document analysis, planning and schedulingproblems or discrete optimization. The position includes teaching duties inresearch related fields as well as core computer science at the Master andPhD level (in English) and at the Bachelor level (German preferred).
The successful candidate is expected to establish close cooperation withinthe university. Experience with industrial and academic cooperation isdesirable.
