Description:

The World Languages Department at the University of South Florida seeksapplicants for a full time Instructor of Brazilian Portuguese to beginAugust 7, 2010. The position is a 9 month, full time, non-tenure track,with potential additional responsibilities for service related to lowerdivision instruction. Salary for thisposition is 36,000 annually.

Responsibilities: Teach Portuguese language at all levels and undergraduateLinguistic courses. This position will be teaching intensive, with 4 plus 4teaching loads or the equivalent

Qualifications:Minimum: M.A. in relevant field. The successful candidate will demonstrateexcellence in classroom teaching and will also be a native speaker ofBrazilian Portuguese with a full command of English. Experience teachingPortuguese at the university level, demonstrated interest and commitment toundergraduate education in an interdisciplinary environment. Excellentwritten and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred:Abilities to develop a coherent program of instruction in Portuguese anddemonstrated ability to work well with others, as the Department will becooperating with the Institute for the Study of Latin America and theCaribbean to develop Brazilian Studies at the University, and thisindividual will play an important role in that effort.
