Meeting Description:

Linguistics and Literature have played a very significant role in the development of second or foreign language teaching. Research findings in Linguistics and Literature have influenced second or foreign language teaching practices all over the world, including the teaching of English. Within this context, The Faculty of Language and Literature in cooperation with The Language Training center, Satya Wacana Christian University is going to hold its Fourth International Seminar in the hope of bringing Linguistics and Literature into EFL Classrooms.

1. Linguistics in Language Teaching 2. Current Perspectives on TEEL 3. Using Corpora in TEFL 4. Classroom Discourse 5. ICT Applications in EFL Classrooms 6. Literature in Language Teaching 7. Literary Theories in EFL Contexts 8. Multiculturalism in EFL Teaching

Procedures for submission of paper abstracts or workshop proposals:

1.A 250-300 word abstract or proposal with a title not exceeding twelve words and a 75-100 word bio data should be sent to the Seminar Secretariat via email no later than July 30, 2010. Abstracts or proposals outside the word limit will not be accepted. 2.Accepted presenter will be notified by August 30, 2010. 3.A soft copy of the full paper selected for the seminar must be sent to the Seminar Secretariat no later than October 15, 2010 to be included in the Conference Proceeding CDs. Should this fail, the committee reserves the right to withdraw the paper from the presentation. 4.Abstracts or proposals sent must be within the above topic areas.

Types of Presentations:

1.Parallel Papers These are formal lecture presentations which last 30 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions. 2.Workshops Workshops last for 80 minutes, in which the presenters do not do much lecturing. Instead, they design activities which can engage the participants throughout the session. 3.Poster/Film Presentations These presentations are intended to display posters, pictures, photos, or films for the purpose of EFL learning. Participants will have opportunities to see the display and talk to the presenters during coffee/tea and lunch breaks.
