Description:

The linguistics department of the University of Stuttgart, Germany, invitesapplications for a tenured W3 Professorship in German Linguistics startingin the 2012/2013 Winter Term.

The candidate will be responsible for research and teaching in theoreticaland German linguistics in the following courses of study: German (for thestate teachers' examination), linguistics (Bachelor), German (Bachelor),and language theory and comparison (Master). Interested applicantsshould be specialized in at least one field of theoretical and Germanlinguistics with a view to language comparison.

The research profile of the candidate should fit into the interdisciplinarynature of the Linguistics Department in Stuttgart (http://www.uni-stuttgart.de/linguistik/);the candidate is also expected to contribute to the close cooperationbetween the departments Linguistics and Natural Language Processing.Participation is expected in the Collaborative Research Project(Sonderforschungsbereich 732), Incremental Specification in Context (see:http://www.uni-stuttgart.de/linguistik/sfb732/), as well as in other projectsrelated to language and cognition (see: http://www.fsk.uni-stuttgart.de/).Experience in obtaining third-party funding and an international profile isdesirable.
