Focus: The language program includes 30 hours of class courses and 6 hours ofimmersion course.The course curriculum is adapted to the students, with favouritetopics arranged around their interests. Description:ROLANG School organizes the summer school on Romanian language in the city ofSibiu in association with the Faculty of Journalism of the "Lucian Blaga"University, Sibiu. Formerly the centre of the Transylvanian Saxons, the old city of Sibiu wasranked as "Europe's 8th most idyllic place to live" by Forbes and wasdesignated a European Capital of Culture for the year 2007, in tandem withLuxembourg. Participants will attend museums in Sibiu, internationally awarded Romanianfilm screenings and classical music concerts once a week. An optional trip toSighișoara (located at a distance of 91 km from Sibiu) will be organized onSaturday, August 3, 2013.
The hours are structured as follows:* 30 hours of class courses* 6 hours of immersion course- The beginner level (A1 and A2 level) develops basic communication skills inRomanian by learning familiar everyday phrases and words and basic grammarnotions.- The intermediate level (B1 and B2 level) develops skills such ascommunication about familiar topics, understanding texts with a high frequencyin conversation, writing messages or short compositions describing feelings,emotions and impressions.- The advanced level (C1 and C2 level) aims at developing spontaneousconversations on various topics, comprehension of long and complex texts orcompositions, understanding of spoken Romanian language.
The minimum number of students for each group is 5 with a maximum of 9.The course materials are based on ROLANG manual, "Learn Romanian. Apprenez leRoumain" by Mona Moldoveanu Pologea (manual, exercise book, audio CD). Othervideo and audio materials will also be used. The instructors are PhD holders,authors of Romanian manuals for foreigners and University of Bucharestteachers.
