Description:
The DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center (CRC) ›Production of Migration‹ (SFB 1604) examines the conditions and functions of the social production and negotiation of migration across disciplines. The aim of SFB 1604 is to establish reflexive migration research as an approach to the study of society. Language plays an important role in this context. While the CRC is located in Osnabrück, the project offering the advertised position is being carried out at the University of Münster. The linguistic project ›The multilingual hospital. The Production of Migration through Language as Communicative and Social Infrastructure‹ is offering a fixed-term full-time position from 1 April 2024 until 31 December 2027.
Your tasks:
- Conducting empirical studies on language use in a professional context, language change and language attitudes of speakers of German as a first and second language in the above-mentioned project and in cooperation with the University Hospital Münster (UKM)
- Active participation in the CRC’s interdisciplinary theory development
- On-site participation in the events and activities of the CRC in Osnabrück
Our expectations:
Requirements:
- A university degree in German language and literature studies or modern foreign language philology or in general or applied linguistics
- Above-average doctoral degree
- Experience in carrying out empirical research and knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative methods of linguistic research
- Excellent German and English language skills
Desirable Qualifications:
- Substantiated knowledge in interactional linguistics and/or sociolinguistics
- Strong research interest in migration-related topics and willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and theoretical debate
