5th Crete Summer School of Linguistics / CreteLing2023

Focus: Focus: CreteLing focuses on theoretical linguistics, experimental linguistics and current trends in linguistics and related fields (e.g. computer science, cognitive science, neurolinguistics, language and music etc.). The program includes introductory courses and advanced seminars and is suitable for undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and faculty members.
Minimum Education Level: No Minimum

Special Qualifications:
We are unable to accept applications from high-school students.

Description:
The Division of Linguistics at the University of Crete invites everybody interested in linguistics to apply to the 5th Summer School in Linguistics in Rethymnon, Crete, Greece. The school will take place from July 15 to July 28, 2023 and there will be introductory, intermediate and advanced courses in a number of linguistic subfields: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, language acquisition, bilingualism, neurolinguistics, language evolution, sociolinguistics, computational phonology, processing and superlinguistics.

There will also be two workshops: a) Workshop ON LANGUAGE ACQUISITION, on Wednesday, July 19 (organized by
Artemis Alexiadou, Humboldt University zu Berlin & Leibniz- ZAS Berlin, Maria Teresa Guasti, University of Milano-Bicocca and
Uli Sauerland, Leibniz - ZAS Berlin University), and b) Workshop on GENDER MARKEDNESS AND DEFAULTS on Wednesday, July 26 (organized by Luke Adamson, Rutgers University). More information about the workshops can be found on the CreteLing2023 website (https://linguistics.philology.uoc.gr/cssl23/).

Tuition: 300.0 EURO
Tuition Explanation: Tuition fees for both weeks of the summer school are: - 300 euros for early student applicants - 400 euros for faculty members and late student applicants - 500 euros for late faculty applicants.
Retired faculty (from any university) do not pay tuition fees, in recognition of their contribution to the field.

A small number of grants will be available for students. Grants will be based on merit (based on the applicant's CV and reference letter) and will be equally distributed among undergraduate and graduate students.
