Description:

The Faculty of Humanities, Kyushu University, Japan, announces an opening for a Visiting Lecturer, term limited, from October 1st, 2024.

The applicant should:
(1) be a native speaker of English and be able to serve as a consultant of English data
for academic research.
(2) have a professional interest in teaching English linguistics and other courses (including English conversation, composition, academic writing and cultural studies).
(3) have a Ph.D. or equivalent qualification (although applicants holding a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification will also be considered).
(4) be able to teach English linguistics and academic writing as a graduate course.

The official status will be term-limited visiting lectureship with the teaching load of approximately five to seven 90-minute classes per week. It is necessary to cooperate in marking of the Kyushu University Entrance Examinations and other office duties.

Term of Employment: one year, renewable

Remuneration will be approximately 4.5 to 6 million yen per annum before tax depending on age, qualifications and experience, which will be decided in accordance with the relevant regulations stipulated by Kyushu University. Travel expenses from the selected applicant’s present address to Fukuoka will be refunded by the university.

- Working hours: Based on Discretionary Labor System for professional work, Kyushu University allows the employee to engage in his/her work while leaving it to his/her discretion to decide the means and the allotment of time for performing the work and regarding them as having worked for the prescribed number of working hours (7 hours and 45 minutes), irrespective of how much time he/she has actually spent on his/her work.

- Social Insurance: The health insurance, pension insurance, mutual retirement pension programs of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Mutual Society, and employment insurance of Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
- Secondhand smoking measures:Smoking is prohibited at Kyushu University.
