Babel: The Language Magazine is currently seeking new contributions to our regular Lives in Language feature. Babel is a quarterly magazine about languages and linguistics, aimed at a non-specialist readership.
Each Lives in Language article provides an introduction to the life and work of a significant (deceased) linguist, in between 1,000 and 1,500 words.
We have profiled 32 linguists so far (see the list below). If you would like to write a 1,000 to 1,500-word feature on a linguist, please get in touch with your suggestion and to request our contributor’s guidelines.
We particularly welcome submissions on non-white and/or non-male linguists.
Unfortunately, we cannot pay writers for their contributions. However, we do provide 6 months’ free access to the full digital archive of Babel issues.
