Enrollment is opening for the Master’s Degree in "Language and Mind" at the University of Siena, Italy.

The Master’s program in "Language and Mind" is a highly interdisciplinary course designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of language as a fundamental human cognitive capacity. It combines theoretical perspectives from Linguistics and Philosophy.

All courses are taught in English, fostering a vibrant international environment within the Department of Social, Political, and Cognitive Sciences, a leader in multidisciplinary research. The program offers two main specializations through its two curricula:

• "Linguistics and Cognition", focusing on applications in domains such as Formal Semantics and Pragmatics, Theory of Grammar, Psycholinguistics and Text Analysis.

• "Philosophy and Cognition", exploring perspectives in areas such as Consciousness Studies, Philosophy of Language, Epistemology, and Philosophy of Logic.

Students also have flexible options to combine courses from both tracks.

Additionally, the program features a Double Degree opportunity in collaboration with Université Paris 1 Panthéon‐Sorbonne (Master Philosophie, parcours Logique et philosophie des sciences), as well as numerous Erasmus agreements with excellent departments across Europe.

The estimated tuition fees for the entire program, which includes two years of coursework and additional time to complete the Master’s dissertation, range from €4,000 to €5,000, depending on various factors (e.g., economic conditions, bachelor’s degree score, and country of origin).

Graduates of the Master’s program in Language and Mind have strong prospects for admission to Ph.D. programs in Europe and beyond. Approximately 30% of philosophy graduates (depending on the yearly enrollment numbers) have successfully pursued doctoral studies.

Application period for the first intake for the academic year 2025/2026: mid-December 2024 to mid-January 2025 (tentative; please check the university website for updates).
Application period for the second intake for the academic year 2025/2026: mid-February 2025 to mid-April 2025 (tentative; please check the university website for updates).
