Job Title: PostDoc Position in Science Communication of Linguistics
Job Rank: Post Doc
Specialty Areas: General Linguistics; experience in Science Communication, Citizen Science, and/or Project Coordination
Required Language(s): English (eng)
German (deu)
Description:
The CRC 1646 is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and investigates linguistic creativity in communication from a range of different perspectives.
The offered PostDoc position is associated with the public relations project of the CRC (project Ö). Project Ö will serve as a communication hub for the CRC. The project's tasks go well beyond common public relations work in a CRC due to the general public's substantial involvement in the planned research programme via citizen science activities and the planned research on science communication itself. We aim to actively involve interested citizens in the design, implementation, evaluation and results assessment of our projects through various participation formats. Citizens participating in the CRC's research will thus gain insights into linguistic research and theorizing.
Your Tasks
This postdoctoral position is intended to advance research in the field of science communication, with a particular focus on linguistic citizen science. The postdoc's tasks include the activities listed below:
Research (including evaluation and citizen science) (55 %):
- scientific evaluation of science communication activities within the CRC
- consulting with PhD students to implement successful science communication activities involving the public in the research activities themselves
- support the CRC's commitment to the promotion of research-based science communication as well as the development of language-based citizen science communication
Public relations (40 %):
- close cooperation with the project's external partners (i.e. VHS, WissensWerkstadt etc)
- multimedia presentation of relevant CRC research topics
- independent active and reactive media relations, including media outreach, responding to media inquiries, drafting media releases, etc.
- coordination of communication projects for the CRC's central organizational units
- the establishment and continuous development of the CRC's internal communication
Academic self-administration, active participation in the SFB organization (5 %)
Employment is conducive to further scientific qualification.
