The University of Marburg, founded in 1527, offers a variety of excellent programs of study for around 22,000 students and confronts the important topics of our time through excellent research across a broad spectrum of sciences.

The Faculty of Germanistik und Kunstwissenschaften, Research Center Deutscher Sprachatlas invites applications for a Professorship (W 2) for German Linguistics (Focus Language History) at the next possible date. The position holder should represent the subject of language history in research and teaching in its entire breadth. The professorship contributes to the development of the profile area "Language Dynamics" of the Philipps-Universität. The professorship actively contributes to the further development of the Research Center Deutscher Sprachatlas and is involved in the acquisition of third-party funds.

A focus on the analysis of diachronic and diatopic processes of language change in German is required, with a particular focus on a core topic of the German grammar. Relevant expertise in data-based research on variation and change is required.

A clear connection to the Research Training Group "Dynamics and Stability of Linguistic Representations" and to the profile of the Marburg Center for Digital Culture and Infrastructure is required. Experience in the Digital Humanities (e.g. related to Citizen Science approaches or research data infrastructure) is required. Experience in the successful acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects as well as international scientific visibility and networking are also expected. Great importance is attached to close cooperation with the linguistic and historically oriented professorships of the department.

The professorship represents the above-mentioned areas in the courses of study of the department. In particular, the professorship is responsible for the teaching of research content in the course of study "Lehramt an Gymansien - Deutsch".

Accordingly, experience in teaching subject-specific content for schools is desirable. A commitment to teaching digital methodology in the subject context is expected.

The employment requirements of §§ 67 and 68 HessHG apply. The University of Marburg attaches great importance to the intensive supervision of students and doctoral candidates and expects from its lecturers and thus from the applicants a distinctive presence at the university and a high degree of commitment in the field of academic teaching.
