Job Rank: Researcher
Specialty Areas: Phonetics
Specialty Language(s): German (deu)
Description:
The working group Phonetics has a vacancy for a PostDoc position within the DFG-funded project "Laughter in Conversation: Form, Function and Multimodality" is available. The research builds on the work of a previous project and focuses on the study of laughter in spontaneous conversations, with a focus on the acoustic, articulatory and multimodal realisation, the frequency of occurrence of certain types of laughter in conversations and the interplay between smiles and laughter.
To answer these questions, a corpus of conversational (and corresponding read) speech is to be created and made generally available for research purposes, which contains acoustic as well as articulographic measurements. Further details on the project results to date can be found here:
https://www.uni-bielefeld.de/fakultaeten/linguistik-literaturwissenschaft/forschung/fachbereich/phonetik/projects/project_laugh.xml
The chosen candidate will conduct experimental research on the topic of laughter in conversation. This includes articulographic and acoustic recordings and analyses of spontaneous dialogues, publications and presentation of research results as well as relevant project-related administrative tasks.
