The Chilean Society of Linguistics (SOCHIL) is pleased to invite academics, undergraduate and graduate students, and researchers in language sciences to participate in the 24th International Congress of the Chilean Society of Linguistics: Diachronies and Synchronies: Tradition and Innovation in Language Studies, which will be held at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso on October 28, 29, and 30, 2025.

This national event, with international scope, provides a space for theoretical and methodological discussion, as well as for the dissemination of innovations in the interdisciplinary fields of language study. It is also a meeting point for our Society, where different generations of members fraternally share our object of study.

PARTICIPATION IN THE CONGRESS

Presentations at the SOCHIL 2025 conference can be presented in two formats: oral presentations and posters.

Oral presentations: These will consist of individual or group presentations, a maximum of 20 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes for questions. Proposals will be received on, but not limited to, the following thematic areas:
- Language structure: phonology, morphology, lexicon, and syntax
- Usage studies: phonetics, semantics, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics
- Theoretical linguistics: linguistic epistemology and philosophy of language
- Language processing: psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics
- Automatic language processing: computational and corpus linguistics
- Language life cycle: acquisition, development, and deterioration
- Applied linguistics: clinical, educational, and forensic
- Amerindian languages: documentation, revitalization, and reclamation
- Language and identity: feminisms, diversity, and resistance
- Discourse as social action: discourse studies, critical studies, and glottopolitics
- Translation and interpreting: cognitive, sociocultural, and linguistic studies, linguistic mediation and intercultural mediation
- Second Languages: Social and Individual Variables Related to Use and Learning

Posters: These will consist of graphic presentations, individual or group, aimed at communicating innovative methodological developments, such as analysis tools, experimental designs, application of analysis models, technological products, among others. They will have a dedicated space within the conference, during which there will be no time limit for their presentation. They will be in vertical format, A0 size (841 mm x 1189 mm).

Instructions for preparing and submitting abstracts in both formats:
Languages: Abstracts must be submitted in Spanish, English, and native languages ​​of Chile (1).
Content: Abstracts must include:
- Title of the presentation or poster.
-Abstract of a maximum of 300 words, including objectives, methodology, preliminary or expected results, and relevance of the study.
- 5 keywords.
- Author information: full name, institutional affiliation, email address.
- Presentation mode: oral presentation or poster.
- Thematic area in which the research falls.

1. If submitting the abstract in a Chilean language, a translation into Spanish or English must be included. This procedure will be repeated for the presentation or poster.
- Submission Deadline: Abstracts must be submitted no later than May 30, 2025.

Proposal Evaluation

The abstracts of the proposals will be evaluated by the conference's Scientific Committee based on their quality, originality, and thematic relevance. The results will be announced between June 30 and July 15, 2025.

Information on registration, costs, and the final program will be published on the official SOCHIL and Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso websites in due course.

La Sociedad Chilena de Lingüística, SOCHIL, tiene el agrado de invitar a académicas/os, estudiantes de pregrado y postgrado e investigadoras/es en ciencias del lenguaje a participar en el XXIV Congreso Internacional de la Sociedad Chilena de Lingüística: Diacronías y sincronías: Tradición e innovación en los estudios del lenguaje, que se llevará a cabo en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, los días 28, 29 y 30 de octubre de 2025.

Este evento nacional, de alcance internacional, constituye un espacio de discusión teórica y metodológica, así como de difusión de las innovaciones en las interdisciplinas que estudian el lenguaje. Asimismo, es el momento de encuentro de nuestra Sociedad, en el que diferentes generaciones de socias y socios comparten de manera fraterna en torno nuestro objeto de estudio.

PARTICIPACIÓN EN EL CONGRESO

Las presentaciones en el congreso SOCHIL 2025 podrán ser en dos modalidades: ponencias orales y pósters.

Ponencias orales: Consistirán en presentaciones individuales o grupales, de máximo 20 minutos, con 5 minutos adicionales para preguntas. Se recibirán propuestas sobre, pero no restringidas a, las siguientes áreas temáticas:
- Estructura de las lenguas: fonología, morfología, léxico y sintaxis
- Estudios del uso: fonética, semántica, pragmática y sociolingüística
- Lingüística teórica: epistemología lingüística y filosofía del lenguaje
- Procesamiento del lenguaje: psicolingüística y neurolingüística
- Procesamiento automático del lenguaje: lingüística computacional y de corpus
- Ciclo vital del lenguaje: adquisición, desarrollo y deterioro
- Lingüística aplicada: clínica, educativa y forense
- Lenguas amerindias: documentación, revitalización y reivindicación
- Lenguaje e identidad: feminismos, diversidades y resistencias
- Discurso como acción social: estudios del discurso, estudios críticos y glotopolítica
- Traducción e interpretación: estudios cognitivos, socioculturales, de mediación lingüística y mediación intercultural
- Segundas lenguas: variables sociales e individuales relacionadas con el uso y el aprendizaje

Pósteres: Consistirán en presentaciones gráficas, individuales o grupales, orientadas a la comunicación de desarrollos metodológicos innovadores, tales como herramientas de análisis, diseños experimentales, aplicación de modelos de análisis, productos tecnológicos, entre otros. Contarán con un espacio dentro del congreso, durante el cual, no habrá un límite de tiempo para su presentación. Tendrán formato vertical, de tamaño A0 (841 mm x 1189 mm).

Instrucciones para la elaboración y envío de resúmenes en ambas modalidades
Idiomas: Los resúmenes español, inglés y lenguas originarias de Chile1.
Contenido: Los resúmenes deberán incluir:
- Título de la ponencia o póster.
- Resumen de un máximo de 300 palabras, incluyendo objetivos, metodología, resultados preliminares o esperados y relevancia del estudio.
- 5 palabras claves.
- Datos de las/os autoras/es: nombre completo, filiación institucional, correo electrónico.
- Modalidad de presentación: ponencia oral o póster.
- Área temática en la cual se inscribe la investigación.

1 En el caso de presentar resumen en alguna lengua originaria de Chile, deberá adjuntarse la traducción correspondiente al español o al inglés, procedimiento que se repetirá en la ponencia o póster.

Evaluación de Propuestas

Los resúmenes de las propuestas serán evaluados por el Comité Científico del congreso, en función de su calidad, originalidad y pertinencia temática. Los resultados serán comunicados entre el 30 de junio y 15 de julio de 2025.
