The community of linguists at the Faculty of Letters celebrates 25 years of academic meetings with researchers from Romania and abroad at the University of Bucharest. As in the previous years, we intend to cover a wide range of topics, comprising various domains and directions of research in the study of Romanian and theoretical linguistics.
We encourage presentations in, but not restricted to the following topics:
- morphology, syntax, phonetics, and phonology;
- pragmatics and stylistics;
- lexicology and lexicography, semantics, and terminology;
- historical linguistics, philology, and dialectology;
- foreign language teaching (Romanian or other languages).

Gabriela Pană Dindelegan (Romanian Academy & University of Bucharest)
Four workshops will take place during the conference:
1. Integrating L1 skills – what, how and why?, convenors: Florentina Sâmihăian, Andrea Ghiță;
2. Do LLMs exhibit natural-language processing cognitive abilities?, convenors: Andrei Mărășoiu, Sandra Brânzaru, Alexandru Nicolae;
3. Foreign Language Teaching – Challenges and Opportunities in the Age of Large Language Models, convenor: Ionuț Geană;
4. Neology: Past and Present, convenors: Cristian Moroianu, Monica Vasileanu, Gabriela Stoica.
Presentations can be delivered in Romanian, English or French.
Presentations will be scheduled for 30-minute slots (20 minutes presentation followed by 10 minutes for discussions) and will take place only in person.
Abstracts no longer than 500 words, including references, should be submitted by 15 September 2025, in .doc or .docx format, to [email protected]. Notifications of acceptance will be sent on 1 October 2025.
For workshop submissions, abstracts should follow the guidelines found in each workshop’s description. Workshops 2, 3, and 4 also allow online participation.
Conference fee: 60€ (or 300 RON); 30€ (or 150 RON) for PhD students.
