Central Asia Language and Education (CALE) invites participants to a workshop on “Documenting and Describing Turkic Languages” to be held at KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan on May 15-17, 2025. Interested participants can register by April 25, 2025. The workshop will include the following sessions:
Documenting and describing Turkic languages - Dr. Adam McCollum, Rutgers University, USA
Analyzing linguistic data - Dr. Aynur Abish, Minzu University, China
Collecting and analyzing discourse data - Dr. Kara Fleming, KIMEP University, Kazakhstan
Multimedia corpus of spoken modern Kazakh language - Dr. Andrey Filchenko, Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan
Digitalizing textual data - Dr. Gulnar E. Yulghun, Harvard University, USA
Tuition: 40000 or 55000 KZT
Tuition Explanation: Residents of Central Asia (for these purposes defined as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Mongolia): 40,000 KZT
